mâmawêyatitân centre
Overview
The mâmawêyatitân centre is a beautiful, highly functional, and innovative facility that promotes interaction among different community partners and groups for the benefit of the North Central area in Regina.
Named after a Cree word meaning ‘let’s be all together,’ the centre was a unique partnership between Regina Public Schools, the City of Regina, and the Regina Public Library. It houses the new Scott Collegiate high school, Albert Scott Community Centre, Regina Public Library Albert Branch, Community Police Centre, and Scott Infant and Toddler Centre.
The three partners collaborated to create an amalgamation of programming and services and significant community and ceremonial spaces. To accommodate a diverse range of programming, the design of the facility followed many 21st century learning principles and redefines flexibility. Over 70% of all spaces are shared use.
The realization of the facility through focused, collaborative work, set a new national precedent for shared facilities.
